Local Test R-ZDC for Installation

(Tue) 08 Jan

  • Prof. Michael Murray visited 512-R-005(one of Korea-cms office) and he gave us 2-safety shoes.
  • went and looked around ZDC working place in Prevessin site.

(Wed) 09 Jan

  • helped Minkyoo to do CERN User registration process.
    • success without signature of Y.I CHOI who is a leader of our group. but Minkyoo had to get and give it to users office.

(Thu) 10 - (Sat) 12 Jan

  • took the basic safety course 1 2 3 in B55
  • saw and helped Laura to some electrical signal transferring test in B28-R-21
    • component-1 EM-READOUT-BOX-R

    • procedure in detail
      1. Putted an optical fiber through the em-readout-box and attached it to PMT
      2. Source laser light will be injected into the fiber for test and it will be delivered to in front of inside-optical-fiber-bundle. Then it be reflected and goes up.
      3. Assambled it and Connected all the cables on it
        1. laser singal cable was connected on the oscilloscope
        2. the injection laser cable was linked on the readoutbox
        3. HV cable also connected on readoutbox
        4. signal output cable(amplified by pmt and base) connected on oscilloscope
      4. See oscilloscope to figure out what's happen

R-ZDC Installation

(Mon) 14 Jan

  • my all edh process was stopped because of lack of basic safety course information in CERN database.
  • there's a little difference between cms convention and ZDC convention.
  • pictures will be added soon

(Tue) 15 Jan - (Wed) 16 Jan

  • optical fiber mounting socket could be flat by grinding with sand paper and tooth paste!!
  • installed right side ZDC in TAM which is located in LHC tunnel, 140m away from interaction point.
  • connect optical and HV cable on it in the tunnel
  • found all the ZDC HV cables and labeled on each cable then connected it to the NIMBIN module.

(Thu) 17 Jan

  • did the same test as what we did in B28
    • but failed.
    • Michael guessed it's because of very long cable length(around 200m)
    • we calculated capacitance of the line.

(Fri) 18 Jan - (Sat) 19 Jan

  • learned how to use the power supply module in NIMBIN rack in control room USC55.

Install L-ZDC EM readout box on EM CAL and do the same test
