2010 Heavy Ion Trigger Study for Z0 in November data

How to run HLT

  • For example CMSSW_3_7_0
scramv1 p -n cms370 CMSSW CMSSW_3_7_0
cd cms370/src
cvs co -r CMSSW_3_7_0 HLTrigger/Configuration
cd HLTrigger/Configuration/test
(put your input files(should be RAW) on the OnLine_HLT_HIon.py)
cmsRun OnLine_HLT_HIon.py

L1 Rate Problems

  • Detail information here
Z0 Express Stream

  1. Motivation
    • In the latest CMSSW version such as 3_8_X and 3_9_X, there is no high object muon trigger, but only L1_DoubleMuOpen, called HLT_L1DoubleMuOpen. This study started to check if this is really what we want or we need another trigger path?
  2. Candidates for Z0 Express Stream
    • L1_DoubleMuOpen : more than 2 muons with any pt in the Level 1 : current default dilepton trigger
    • L2_SingleMu0 : more than 1 muon with no pt in the Level 2
    • L2_DoubleMu0 : more than 2 muons with no pt in the Level 2
    • L2_Mu3 : more than 1 muon with pt 3 GeV/c in the Level 2
    • L2_Mu5 : more than 1 muon with pt 5 GeV/c in the Level 2
    • L2_Mu7 : more than 1 muon with pt 7 GeV/c in the Level 2
    • L2_Mu10 : more than 1 muon with pt 10 GeV/c in the Level 2
    • L2_Mu12 : more than 1 muon with pt 12 GeV/c in the Level 2

Data Sample
  • Merged sample with HLT-RECO in the 370 (13k events) : /castor/cern.ch/user/d/dmoon/cms370/Hydjet_MinBias_2.76TeV_Z0_Flat_Emb_Reco/Merge
  • Generated information : link
  • Muon pt of Z0

Trigger Performace
  1. Acceptance
    • Acceptance = (# of Z |2 Mu_eta|<2.4)/(# of |Zy| < 2.4)
  1. Trigger Performance
    • Z0 Trigger Efficiency and Acc X Eff
    • Muons from Z0 Trigger Efficiency and Acc X Eff

To do list
  1. Table of Efficiency and Acc X Eff (ongoing)
  2. Estimate the trigger rate of Z0 express stream (ongoing)
